Child Custody

Woman pushing swing with joyful child

The care, control and support of a child is how we formerly defined child custody in Illinois.  Such decisions can be especially stressful because of how personal the subject is—your children.  Illinois now refocused the law from custody to allocation of parental decision-making and parenting time schedules to reflect the personal nature of this area of law.

Likewise with child support, there are often many things to consider when establishing which parent pays, how much to pay, and what other items the children may need that are not covered by child support.  Going through the initial litigation process also offers challenges that are different from those that may exist after your case is final.  In either case, the children must be taken care of as they are the heart of our client’s lives and concerns.

We strive to find all possible avenues to settle the issues affecting your children, and we will litigate whatever is left unresolved to protect your children. This approach allows us to provide effective support to our clients with clear guidance on the laws governing them.  Whether your case involves married or unmarried parents, we have over twenty years of experience with families of various composition and background.
